Terms of Sale and Use

Effective from 24 October 2026

These terms apply to the website clearthe.bar, to bar accounts, to free use of bar and to the purchase of bar licences. Paid use is also governed by the Software Licence Agreement. bar is provided by Edgars Zakalovskis, Rīga, Latvia, just@clearthe.bar (“we”).

1. What bar is

1.1. bar is online judging software for judged action-sports contests, starting with BMX freestyle. It runs in a web browser at clearthe.bar. Organisers sign in with an account; judges score from a personal link or QR code without an account; riders and spectators follow results on a live results page.

1.2. Contest data (contests, categories, riders, judges, scores, the change log) is stored on our servers so that it is available on every device and to the people the organiser shares it with.

2. Accounts

2.1. An account is for organisations and the people who run contests for them: clubs, federations, event organisers and their staff. You must be at least 18 and, if you act for an organisation, authorised to do so.

2.2. Give a real e-mail address and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what is done with your account, including by helpers you invite to a contest. Turn on two-step sign-in if you can.

2.3. We may pause or block an account that breaks these terms, puts other users or the service at risk, or is used for anything unlawful. Where reasonable we tell you first.

2.4. You can ask us at any time to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy). You can delete your own contests in bar.

3. Free use

3.1. All features are free for categories of up to 8 riders, for training, evaluation and real contests.

3.2. Bigger categories can be set up and scored, but their places, results, live results page and exports open only with a licence or our permission.

3.3. Demo contests on the start page are shared with every visitor. Do not enter real personal data in them.

5. How to buy a licence

  1. Ask for a licence from the locked category in bar, with the contact form on the website or by e-mail to just@clearthe.bar, giving your organisation, the licence type and the contest or discipline.
  2. We send an offer and an invoice referring to the Software Licence Agreement.
  3. By paying the invoice you accept the Software Licence Agreement and these terms.
  4. Within 3 business days of receiving payment we add the licence to your bar account. There is no key to copy.

6. Prices and payment

6.1. Prices are in euro and are stated in the offer. Any VAT is shown on the invoice.

6.2. Invoices are payable within 14 days by bank transfer.

6.3. Licences do not renew automatically. Before a 1-year licence ends we can send a new invoice if you want to continue.

6.4. Fees paid are non-refundable, except as set out in section 5 of the Software Licence Agreement.

6.5. Online payment may be added later. Its terms will be shown before you pay.

7. Before and during your contest

7.1. Run a test round and check the format settings (rounds, heats, number of judges, run time) against the rules of your event before every contest.

7.2. bar needs an internet connection at the venue for judges’ phones and live results. Make sure the venue has one, and keep a paper fallback such as the printed judge sheets.

7.3. bar is an aid. Official results are checked and approved by the head judge under the rules of the contest.

8. Rider and judge data

8.1. The organiser decides what rider and judge data to enter and who may see the results, and is responsible for it (see section 7 of the Software Licence Agreement and the Privacy Policy).

8.2. The organiser must tell riders, judges and, for minors, their parents or guardians in the entry form or event rules that bar is used to score the contest and publish results, and must have a lawful basis for it.

8.3. Enter only what the contest needs. Where possible use a short form of the name (for example “J. Bērziņš”), a nickname or a start number instead of the full name, especially for minors.

9. Acceptable use

Do not try to get into other users’ accounts or contests, get around the free limit or the licence checks, overload or attack the service, copy the software or use bar to build a competing product. You may freely use and publish the results, judge sheets and exports bar produces for your contests.

10. Availability

We aim to keep bar available at all times, but cannot promise uninterrupted service. Updates are installed from time to time; we avoid doing so during announced contests where we can. We may change or remove features; we will not remove a feature you paid for during your licence term without offering a fair alternative or a pro-rata refund.

11. The website

11.1. The website content, texts, logo and design belong to us and may not be copied for commercial purposes without permission.

11.2. Please give accurate information in the contact form. Form data is processed as described in the Privacy Policy.

11.3. References to UCI rules describe features only. bar is not an official UCI product.

12. Liability

bar is provided “as is”. The limitations of liability in sections 8 and 9 of the Software Licence Agreement also apply to free use and to these terms.

13. Consumers

bar is meant for organisations. If you want to buy a licence as a private individual (consumer), say so in your request: consumer protection law then applies and we will agree separate terms.

14. Changes

We may change these terms by publishing a new version on this page and, for important changes, telling account holders by e-mail or in bar. Licences already bought stay under the terms in force when they were bought.

15. Governing law and contact

The laws of the Republic of Latvia apply, and disputes are heard by the courts of the Republic of Latvia. Contact: Edgars Zakalovskis, Rīga, Latvia, just@clearthe.bar.
